Legalizing gay marriage will ensure children will be educated on the fact that they are NORMAL if they are attracted to the same sex. Hell, it may not seem normal to some of you folks, but to me? We all — I don’t care who you are — have pondered that idea at one time or another. I have swung both ways, as they say, a few times in my life and I’m GLAD I DID! I am glad I gave myself the chance to find out who I am.

Feeling different and acting on it can be devastating to a younger person. But guess what?! It’s NORMAL!!! That’s right people!! It’s just a part of growing up, learning who you are! This is the time for change. The time to get your head out of the frigging sand and face up to life.

So many of my best friends are lesbian and gay. To hell if I’m going to think they are different. Anyone who wants to stop people from getting married because of gender is an ignorant fool and worst of all scared. Fear stops the best things from happening. Acceptance is the key to all our problems today.

I pray that schools start educating our children, like, “Guess what? If you are attracted to the same sex, that’s okay. You are not crazy. There is no need to hide, no need to hang yourself, take that overdose, use daddy’s gun that you found under the mattress. You are accepted. You will be treated as every human being should be, with respect, dignity and love!”

THAT IS WHAT WE HOPE FOR OUR CHILDREN, PEOPLE!!

If you’re that frightened about change, maybe you’ve had some inner desires for the same sex and feel ashamed or you’re just too ignorant and selfish to live and let live? For those out there that voted Yes on Proposition 8 in California, I feel sorry for you. Worse yet: I feel sorry for your children that have to live under fear.

Marriage is about LOVE and COMMITMENT! Nothing more, so GET A GRIP!

I’m sure I’ll get some hate mail on this one, so BRING IT ON, BABY!! I’m ready to fight!

America is supposed to be The Land of the Free and the Home of The Brave!

Be brave, so we can all be free!

How many people have the balls that Cherie Currie has — to simply tell it like it us. Amen, Sister.

  2. Ray says:

False claims, statements, and the wrong definition would add to the confusion of opinion. For instances, if being homo is not natural, by virtue of procreation, then it is clearly entitled to be normal by virtue of religion. To make it more than that would depend on the individual. This is the public issue missed by waste on Prop 8 lobbyists, when I would have given it to you for free. That’s the thanks I get for being open minded. Maybe I should rethink this, I mean, there’s no reason to play me for a fool and pay those politicians millions of dollars to miss a simple argument obviously centered on civil freedom.

  3. Ramona Blackheart says:

    HELL YES!!

  4. Lunani says:

We’re not giving up. We’re still here. And we’re still proud.

  5. Stephanie Koppel says:

Wonderful job, Cherie. It also frustrates me that people get so hung up on semantics– i.e. civil union v. marriage, etc. The point is, if people want to be together, they’ll be together– and they should refer to their relationship or categorize it however they want to.

  6. Mike says:

Marriage was established by God to be between a man and a woman. Read Mark 10: 6-9. That’s what marriage is. Personally I think that gay couples should have the same rights as married couples. But marriage is reserved by God for a man and a woman. If you’re not religious fine, but don’t try to tear down what others believe to suit what you want. Civil unions? All for it. Semantics? You bet.

    Mike,

Re:”…don’t try to tear down what others believe to suit what you want.”

Do you not do the same? 🙂 Why should the laws of a country reflect your religious beliefs?

The use of different terms to denote a civil union between homosexual couples and heterosexual couples would seem to indicate the difference in how a society views these two types of relationships. Let’s be honest, the only reason different terms are used is because some heterosexual people still see homosexual relationships as inferior to their own.

  8. Deborah Frost says:

Mike, if you have a notarized statement from God–complete with HIS/her signature or even a answering machine msg sent to your home phone that we can send out to the lab verifying HIS/HER voice reiterating the statement above, please show or play it now. If not, shut the fuck up and forever hold yr peace. Amen.

  9. Mike says:

“Why should the laws of a country reflect your religious beliefs?” Because like it or not that’s the religious beliefs of our founding fathers. As far as feeling homosexual relationships are inferior, I don’t believe I said that at all. Love is love.

And Deborah I do have a notarized statement from God – it’s called the Bible.

  10. Jimmy says:

The bible dates back a few thousand years, and christianity is not older than 2008 years… surely people got hooked up earlier than that?
And if marriage ought to be interpreted by what the bible states, nobody ought to get a divorce, and all marriages ought to produce children? Why aren’t they?

  11. Deborah Frost says:

Because life is not fair. Thank God for that!

  12. Mathmatika says:

*LOL* Mike you’ve bagsied G*d on your side, quoted holy scriptures and summoned founding fathers to justify your fellow citizens having to adhere to your religious beliefs… that’s not really a reasoned argument is it? 🙂 Americans – I love them!

  13. Mike says:

    Mathmatika,
Actually I was responding to answers that you and others posted about my original comment. Personally I could care less if people don’t “adhere” to my religious beliefs. Everyone in the world makes decision based on what they believe. But in the end we all are responsible for our own actions. If it doesn’t bother you then what’s the worry?
    PS What is bagsied?

  14. Shades Of Gray says:

You Tell Um How It Is Cherie. I agree 100%

  15. Sue says:

    Right on Cherie!

  16. Steven says:

The Bible was completely edited by the church, and by political figures. Chapters & books were added & completely removed from what was originally written. The church added alot of stuff of their own, in hopes of controlling the public. If the church has so much to say about politics then I think the government should start TAXING THEM! Otherwise shut the fuck up!

ANY two people who are in love and want to spend their lives together should be able to marry. Gay, straight, male, female, marriage is about love and committing to eachother. Stop being ignorant people…gays are people too, they should have the right to get married.
